The Headline: Saturday, August 8, 2009- Chester Man in Critical Condition after Motorcycle Crash

 

Location: Terminal Avenue, east of Wilmington Avenue, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County

 

Date of Occurrence: Saturday, August 08, 2009, at 12:38 a.m.

 

Resume: Members of the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a single vehicle motorcycle crash which occurred shortly after midnight today.

 

Anthony Gorman, 47, of Baldwin Street in Chester, Pennsylvania, was traveling westbound on Terminal Avenue approaching Wilmington Avenue on a red 1997 Harley Davidson motorcycle. 

 

The operator struck a raised cement island dividing the straight lane of Terminal Avenue and the right turn lane to enter the City of Wilmington maintenance yard. The operator lost control of the bike and was subsequently ejected.  He was not wearing a helmet and sustained a life threatening head injury.

 

Mr. Gorman was transported from the scene to Christiana Hospital where he is listed in serious condition. 

 

This crash remains under investigation and charges have not been filed
