DSP News Release: Thursday, August 06, 2009- Three Hockessin Teens Arrested for Felony Graffiti Related Offenses
Location: Various locations throughout New Castle County, Delaware
Date of Occurrence: March 31st through May 4th of this year
Suspect(s):
Resume: Yesterday, the Delaware State Police Troop 6, Troop 1, and Newark PD arrested Matthew J. Sutherland. The arrests stem from an investigation that initiated in May of 2009. Sutherland was arrested on 27 Graffiti related misdemeanor charges and 2 graffiti related felony charges. Sutherland was arraigned and released on $23,500.00 unsecured bail.
On this same day, officers from Troop 6 and Troop1 arrested Joseph Pierce. The arrests stem from the same investigation involving Sutherland. Joseph Pierce is currently incarcerated in Snowden Cottage on Centre Road. Pierce is awaiting an arraignment in Family Court later today. Pierce was arrested for 23 misdemeanor graffiti offenses and 4 Felony graffiti offenses.
The day before, officers from Troop 6 and Troop 1 arrested Michael Freccia. The arrests also stem from the same investigation involving Sutherland. Freccia voluntarily turned himself in and is awaiting notification from Family Court for his arraignment date. Freccia was arrested for 2 felony graffiti charges and 18 misdemeanor graffiti arrests.
The arrests were a multi-agency effort through the Anti Graffiti Task Force. The New Castle County Police were also instrumental in identifying these suspects.
Pictures of the suspect’s handiwork are attached below. Freccia is responsible for ‘EMAR,’ Sutherland is responsible for ‘DANK’ and Pierce is responsible for ‘HEDAK.’
