DSP News Release: Wednesday, August 05, 2009- Pedestrian Robbed on Maryland Avenue
Location: South Maryland Avenue, just west of Alban Drive, Wilmington, Delaware
Date of Occurrence: Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at approximately 11:49 p.m.
Suspect(s): Three black male suspects; approximately 16-18 years of age; 5'-09"-10"; weighing approximately 160-180 pounds; two were wearing white muscle t-shirts; the other was wearing a regular white t-shirt; blue jean shorts. The victim described the suspects as having dark complexions.
Resume: Last evening, Troopers responded to South Maryland Avenue for the report of a violent robbery of a pedestrian.
The 27-year-old male victim advised he left his residence nearby to head to the Sunoco Gas Station to purchase cigarettes. As he was walking along the sidewalk, the victim said that he was passed by two male suspects. As he continued along, a third male suspect emerged from a wooded area adjacent to the roadway and confronted him.
This third suspect pistol whipped the victim and then was joined by the first two male suspects. They all beat the victim and demanded his money at gunpoint. The victim complied and the suspects fled on foot toward Alban Drive.
The victim refused medical treatment and his injuries were considered non-life threatening.
