PRELIMINARY DSP News Release: Saturday, August 1, 2009-State Police Probe Early Morning Shooting in Pencader
Location: 205 Executive Drive, Newark, Delaware, New Castle County
Date of Occurrence: Saturday, August 1, 2009 at approximately 12:30 a.m.
Suspect(s): Unknown
Resume: In the early morning hours on Saturday, August 1, 2009, Troop 2 Patrol Troopers were called to the The Banquet & Conference Center located at 205 Executive Drive in reference to a shots fired complaint.
Upon arrival, troopers learned that the banquet center was hosting a party when an altercation occurred. Several partygoers were removed from the party by security.
Shortly after, a fight ensued in the parking lot of the business. Several subjects were shot at as they entered their vehicle, by an unknown type of weapon from a dark colored vehicle which fled the scene.
Several victims reported minor injuries for which they were treated at Christiana Hospital and Union Hospital.
This investigation is ongoing, and an updated release will be forthcoming when additional details known are confirmed.
