DSP News Release: Wednesday, April 22, 2009- Strong Arm Robbery in Canby Park

 

Location of Incident: Canby Park Shopping Center- 1900 Maryland Avenue, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County

 

Date and Time of Occurrence: Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at approximately 10:40 p.m.

 

Suspect(s): two unknown black male subjects

 

Resume: Last evening, Troopers responded to the Canby Park Shopping Center for the report of a robbery complaint. 

 

When officers arrived, they contacted a 35-year-old male victim.  He advised he pulled up behind  the La Cabana Restaurant  to throw away some trash.   Once he was finished, the victim began to close the truck to his car when a subject snuck up behind him and placed him in a ‘bear-hug.’  While he was restrained, a second subject approached and took the victim’s wallet from his pants. 

 

After the robbery, the suspects released the victim and fled on foot toward Alban Park.  The victim was not injured.
