DSP News Release: Monday, April 27, 2009- Serious Injury Crash Reported at Churchmans Road and Airport Road
Location of Incident: Churchmans Road and Airport Road, New Castle, Delaware, New Castle County
Date and Time of Occurrence: Monday, April 27, 2009, at approximately 4:21 p.m.
Resume: Just prior to rush hour this afternoon, Troopers responded to the intersection of Airport Road and Churchmans Road for a two vehicle injury crash.
A 2006 Toyota RAV-4 (operated by Graceann Pulci, 50, of New Castle, Delaware) was traveling westbound on Airport Road approaching the intersection of Churchmans Road.
A 1995 Hyundai Elantra (operated by Albert Brown, 69, of Wilmington, Delaware) was traveling in the left turn lane from eastbound Airport Road to northbound Churchmans Road.
The Hyundai executed a left turn into the path of the Toyota. The two vehicles collided.
Ms. Pulci was not injured.
Mr. Brown was seriously injured. He was transported and admitted to Christiana Hospital. He was cited with Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, No Insurance and Failure to Transfer a Vehicle Title.
Authorities are still attempting to determine how this crash occurred. They are asking anyone who witnessed this crash to call 302-834-2620 ext. 538.
