DSP News Release: Thursday, April 30, 2009- Pick Pocketer Apparently Tried Theft First, But Wasn’t Good at That Either
Location of Incident: Wawa, 2621 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, Delaware, New Castle County
Date and Time of Occurrence: Wednesday, April 29th, 2009, at approximately 1:24 a.m.
Suspect(s): Black male, 20-24 years old, 5’06” to 5’07”, average build, wearing brown shorts and a pink t-shirt
Resume: Minutes before the below covered incident occurred, the same suspect apparently tried his hand at theft in Claymont.
This investigation revealed the suspect was in the Wawa and was standing behind a 46-year-old male victim. The victim took out his money and readied to pay for his purchase when the suspect tried unsuccessfully to grab the cash. The victim and a store clerk struggled over the money and the suspect ultimately fled from the store empty handed.

DSP News Release: Thursday, April 30, 2009- Old Fashioned Pick Pocketing Rears its Ugly Head in North Wilmington- However, the Suspect Wasn’t Very Good At It
Location of Incident: Parking lot of the Wawa, 400 Wilson Road, Wilmington
Date and Time of Occurrence: Wednesday, April 29th, 2009, at approximately 1:45 a.m.
Suspect(s): Black male, 20-24 years old, 5’06” to 5’07”, average build, wearing brown shorts, a pink t-shirt and a Phillies Hat
Resume: In an age of high tech fraud and internet phishing scams, thieves these days have migrated toward crimes that distance themselves from their victims. So although it doesn’t happen very often, the old fashioned method of theft- pick pocketing- does rear its ugly head from time to time, as it yesterday.
At about 1:45 a.m., a 34-year-old male victim had just purchased coffee from the Wawa on Wilson Road. He exited the store and walked up to his vehicle and prepared to get in. As he was going to open the door, a subject walked up behind him and tried to pick-pocket his wallet. The victim turned around and startled the suspect who ran toward a silver four door car which fled eastbound on Wilson Road.
