DSP News Release: Tuesday, April 28, 2009- 2nd Strong Arm Robbery Reported at Canby Park

 

Location of Incident: Canby Park Shopping Center, 1900 Maryland Avenue, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County

 

Date and Time of Occurrence: Monday, April 27, 2009, at approximately 5:35 p.m.

 

Suspect(s):

·        Black male, 21-25 years of age, approximately 5'10" 185-195 lbs, short black hair, and wearing black t-shirt

·        Black male, 20-25 years old, approximately 5'10"-6'0" 175-185 lbs, wearing a black cap, blue t-shirt

 

Resume: State Troopers are investigating another strong arm robbery at the Canby Park Shopping Center.

 

At approximately 5:30 last evening, a 29-year-old male victim was walking through the rear parking lot of the shopping center when he was approached by two black male suspects.  One of the suspects physically restrained the victim while the second subject  rummaged through the victim’s pockets. 

 

At one point, one of the suspects punched the victim in his face causing a minor injury.  After obtaining a small amount of money, the suspects fled on foot toward Maryland Avenue. 

 

This is the second incident within a week at this shopping center.  The last case occurred on April 21st and also involved a strong-arm style robbery.

 

Authorities are asking that residents use caution while walking in the area.  Precautions should be taken which involve most specifically not walking alone.
