DSP News Release: Thursday, November 5th, 2009 – Wanted Felon Taken Into Custody by Troop 3 Governor's Task Force

 

Location: Rubeon May Drive, Woodland Manor Mobile Home Park, Felton

 

Date of Occurrence: Wednesday, November 4th, 2009 at approximately 7:50 pm

Suspect(s): Mr. Keith Bessicks, 29, of the Unit Block of Palmer Road, Star Hill, Dover, DE

 

Resume:

 

On Wednesday, November 4th, 2009, at approximately 7:50 pm, Delaware State Police Troop 3 Governor's Task Force was working in conjunction with Kent County Probation and Parole on Rubeon May Drive, Woodland Mobile Home Park, Felton.  Members of the unit observed Mr. Keith Bessicks on foot in the area.  Computer checks confirmed prior to observing Mr. Bessicks that he had several active warrants for his arrest which prompted the members of the unit to attempt to contact Mr. Bessicks.  

 

Mr. Bessicks fled the area on foot, crossing Plymouth Road, and attempted to conceal himself in approximately three-feet of water in a drainage ditch located along the edge of the roadway.  A struggle ensued between Mr. Bessicks and unit members.  Once Mr. Bessicks was taken into custody he was transported to DSP Troop 3.  

 

Mr. Bessicks had outstanding capiases dating back to May 2007.  The following are a list of the pending capiases against Mr. Bessicks:

 

2-Failure to Appear Capiases from Kent County Superior Court

3-Failure to Appear in Kent County Family Court  

 

An outstanding warrant issued from Cheswold Police Department included the following charges resulting in a $7,000.00 cash bond:

 

1-Count of Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine (Felony)

1-Count of Possession of Cocaine (Felony)

1-Count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

1-Count of Resisting Arrest

1-Count of Possession of Marijuana

 

Another outstanding warrant issued from Smyrna Police Department included the following charges resulting in a $1,310.00 cash bond:

 

1-Count of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle (Misdemeanor)

1-Count of Resisting Arrest

1-Count of Driving While Suspended

1-Count of Failure to have Registration Card

1-Count of Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign

1-Count of Failure to Signal a Turn

 

Lastly, Mr. Bessicks was charged with the following charges from the November 4th incident resulting in a $1500.00 secure bond:

 

1-Count of Offensive Touching of a Law Enforcement Officer (Misdemeanor)

1-Count of Criminal Impersonation

1-Count of Resisting Arrest

5-Counts of Criminal Mischief

 

Mr. Bessicks was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $63,060.00 cash bond and $1500.00 secure bond.
