Two Die in Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash on Blueberry Lane

Released-Friday, April 18, 2008

Frankford-The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is presently investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on the evening of Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 8:26 p.m.

State Troopers from Troop 4 were initially dispatched to Blueberry Lane (Sussex RD 402) two miles west of Frankford to investigate the reported crash.

Upon arrival investigators learned a 1993 Ford Ranger truck operated by Clarence V. McCabe 2nd, 45 of Millsboro was traveling westbound on Blueberry Lane at an apparent high rate of speed.  McCabe lost control of the truck and veered off the north edge of the roadway striking a large drainage ditch.  After striking the ditch the truck overturned.

Clarence V. McCabe 2nd was unrestrained. He was pronounced dead at the scene.  His passenger, Chester M. Morris, 57, also of Millsboro, was properly restrained. Morris was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol involvement is unknown. The case remains under investigation.  Blueberry Lane was closed for approximately three hours while investigators examined the scene.
